Een leuke maar pittige trail in Hongarije van 56 km met 2634 hoogtemeters. Met 10 uur kent deze trail een hele ruime limiet. Het laagste punt is ruim 100 meter en het hoogste punt iets boven de 1000 meter. Sirok ligt 80 km ten noord-oosten van Budapest, vlakbij bij Eger (bekend om zijn wijn). Je loopt van Sirok met een grote boog naar Szurdokpüspöki. De site heeft ook een bladzijde in het Engels waarvan de onderstaande omschrijving:
Running the hardest trail path in Hungary
You are visiting the website of one of Hungary's most popular, historical and most challenging trail running race, called the "Mátrabérc". For 23 years, this competition has been the main event not only because of its magnitude, but because it is crossing trough Hungary's highest mountain the Mátra. Therefore it is giving the competitor lot of nice panoramic view of the mountains and valleys.
Every year there are hundreds of runners and trailers in our race, and as of now, the best time is 5 hours 22 minutes in the course. Throughout the competition there will be an electronic timing system in use, as well as 3 feeding stations, and no set of mandatory gear this year. Every competitor who finishes inside the cut off time will receive a nice bag of goodies. The first 3 competitors (man and woman separately) will receive additional prizes.
You can sign up from January 20th to April 16th, and transfer the entry fee to a given bank account. There will be no registering at the day of the competition! The entry fee is 4000, or 5000 HUF, depending on the date of the entry.
At the day of the race, the average temperature usually between 5-10 Celsius at the start, with during the day temperatures estimated to be around 15-20 Celsius. Start of the race is next to Sirok village, at 6 AM. Finish line will be in Szurdokpuspoki village, up until 4 pm. (There is a 10 hour time limit to finish the race) We ask you to visit our country and race what is one of the most popular trail races in eastern part of Europe! The organizers of this race are well experienced trail runners.
