I might as well tell you up front; this is going to be a really tough race! One round is 45 kilometers (you can choose between one or two rounds) and goes over mountaintops, marshlands and deep forests. The route, which has 2400 meters of positive elevation gain per round, consists of almost only technical trails, that will challenge even the most routined trail runners. I would say it’s about 99 % trail and only 1 % forest road (not paved).
The commercial interests have been put aside and the focus is pointed towards a pure aesthetic nature experience in the wilderness of Telemark. To enhance this experience, the amount of participants will be limited to 50. So be quick, if you want to participate!
Bø Ultramarathon has been approved as a qualifying race for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. For a completed 90 kilometer race, one will receive 3 points.
All participation happens on the participants own responsibility. The route goes through very desolate areas and the participant is required to carry a minimum of obligatory equipment at all times.
